This British documentary combines survivor accounts and never-before-seen professional and amateur video footage of actual F4 tornadoes tearing a path of destruction through the corridor of American heartland known as Tornado Alley. The data collected by storm chasers has changed the way we understand severe weather conditions. Tornado Hunters is a tribute to the dedication and fearlessness of such pioneers as University of Chicago professor Ted Fujita, whose scale for measuring the destructive power of tornados is still used today; "Twister Sisters" Melanie Metz and Peggy Willenberg, professional storm chasers who became unlikely heroes when they rescued four teenagers from a collapsed farmhouse; and academic David Arnold, whose student team of severe weather watchers once recorded 11 tornados in a single day. As exciting as a feature film but with special effects that are 100% real, Tornado Hunters is dedicated to those men and women for whom there is no greater thrill than staying one step ahead of nature at it's most devastating and deadly - and living to tell their stories.
