No depth and beyond slow
I wanted to like this book, but it was so boring. No character development, completely predictable. Don’t waste your time on this one.

The same thing happens over and over.
I thought I was Reading the same thing over and over. They go to the beach every summer we get that part. It was the same thing over and over and over. It was very boring. I gave up about halfway through and tossed the book. I didn't even care who she ended up with. The character development was lacking. There didn't seem to be any romantic feelings really between anyone. I'm not sure why this had such good reviews.

nah
so boring, and a low and slow burn. took until the very last chapter for a good ending. not much of a romance felt like it was too focused on Sam and her life trying to figure herself out.

Adorable Beach Read!!
I need to start this review by saying that I loved loved loved “Same Time Next Summer”! Like, “read non-stop and finish the book in less than 24 hours” loved. The characters, the storyline, the setting…really there wasn’t an aspect of this book that I didn’t enjoy and I 100% recommend to anyone looking for a good summer read! Synopsis: Sam is bringing her fiancé Jack to her parent’s beach house in Long Island to tour a wedding venue. As soon as she steps into her childhood vacation home though, she finds out that Wyatt, her friend since age 5 and first love of her life, is back in town and living next door again. It’s been 14 years since Sam has seen Wyatt, since Wyatt walked out of her life and left her in pieces, and since then she’s put her life on track. She has a fiancé who she has a great routine with (very romantic!), a job she loves (but may lose), and a life in New York City she is comfortable in. Yet being back at the beach house, seeing Wyatt and doing things she used to love, floods Sam with memories of her carefree years there, has her wondering if the track she’s currently on is meant to be. While the “seeing your childhood love after a long break” is not a new storyline, I think there are enough additions to “Same Time Next Summer” to make it unique and enjoyable. Wyatt and Sam have a young love, and it struggles when faced with adult issues that neither of them know how to properly deal with. It’s a relatable issue with young love and doesn’t leave the reader hating either party for the breakup. All of the characters, even if flawed, are likable and play a roll in the overall story. The dialogue was fun, not overdone or super cheesy like many Romantic Fiction books tend to be. So many times I skip over a paragraph while reading a book because it feels like a regurgitation of something I just read, and I didn’t do that with this book. The book also jumps into the story right away, so you are hooked within the first 5-6 pages. If I had to wish for anything to be different, it would be getting more details on what happens with Wyatt and Sam at the end of the book. While I didn’t mind the ending, I definitely would not complain if the author gave us a little more on how things end up with both parties. Maybe there’s room for a sequel? Either way, this is a 5 star read for me, and I highly encourage everyone to give it a try!! **Thank you thank you thank you to Penguin/G.P. Putnam &Sons and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book and thank you to Annabel Monaghan for writing this great book!**
