Book Synopsis

Where Minds Meet Art: A Journey Through Neurological Diversity

The Disorder Diaries chronicles neurological disorders within the arts, focusing on artists, writers, thinkers, and musicians who lived and worked with these diverse states of being. These include Ludwig van Beethoven, Caspar David Friedrich, Emily Dickinson, Lewis Carroll, Arthur Rimbaud, Ludwig Wittgenstein, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Iris Murdoch, Larry Eigner, Kathy Acker, Jean-Philippe Toussaint, and many others. Mapping a volatile territory, where creative force meets the reality of a fracturing body and mind, this book records the author's experiences of systemic collapse -- from a hallucinated library to the terrifying isolation of a sensory blackout -- and the reality of physical and cognitive upheaval

About the Author

Steve Finbow is a cultural historian and critic, his work focuses on avant-garde art & literature, desire. illness, & death.
