Thunder Road [DVD]

Robert Mitchum (Out of the Past, The Night of the Hunter, The Longest Day, The Enemy Below) takes the wheel as Korean War veteran Lucas Doolin in the gripping noir-tinged crime drama, Thunder Road. Inspired by an original story written by Mitchum himself, Thunder Road follows Lucas as he returns from the war and is drawn into the family business distilling and running moonshine throughout the South. Along the way he'll face off with a by-the-book U.S. Treasury Agent (Gene Barry, The War of the Worlds, The 27th Day, TV's Burke's Law), a ruthless gangster (Jacques Aubuchon, The Silver Chalice) and his own conscious as he struggles with his younger brother's (played by Mitchum's son James Mitchum, Trackdown, Moonrunners, Hollywood Cop, In Harm's Way, Blackout) growing involvement in the dangerous trade. Arthur Ripley (The Chase, Voice in the Wind, Prisoner of Japan) directs and Mitchell Ryan (Grosse Pointe Blank, Liar Liar, Lethal Blaster), Keely Smith (Hey Boy! Hey Girl!), Trevor Bardette (The Monolith Monsters, The Deerslayer, The Westerner) and Sandra Knight (The Terror, Tower of London, Frankenstein's Daughter) round out the cast.
