There are two main categories: wearable protective pads for riders (wrist guards, elbow pads, knee pads) and vehicle-mounted transport/tailgate bike pads for carrying bikes on a truck or car. Some kids’ wearable sets also include writable/dry-erase impact caps so children can draw on and wipe off designs.

Kids’ pads use shock-absorbing EVA foam cores, high-density impact-resistant caps or molded splints, and abrasion-resistant nylon outer shells to combine cushioning, impact dispersion, and durability.

Wearable sets generally use strap closures with Velcro adjustability and multiple top/bottom straps to achieve a snug, secure fit—especially on wrist guards, which often include two adjustable straps.

Dry-erase kids’ pads include writable impact caps or surfaces and typically ship with non-toxic dry-erase markers so kids can draw on and wipe off designs.

Transport pads are made from rugged tarpaulin-coated polyester for weather and abrasion resistance, include soft felt backing to protect vehicle paint, and often feature reinforced webbing and strap-management to secure bikes during transit.
