Dragon's Dogma 2 is single-player only. It features a single-player co‑op-style companion system: up to three companions called Pawns accompany the Arisen to assist with combat, exploration, and quests.

Dragon's Dogma 2 is an action-RPG with action-adventure elements. It is presented as a single-player, narrative-driven experience.

You can be accompanied by up to three Pawns as companions. The Deluxe edition adds a character editor called "Art of Metamorphosis" for additional customization.

Combat supports multiple approaches: choose vocations that emphasize swords, bows, or magick, and employ both close-up actions (including clinging to monsters) and ranged tactics depending on encounters.

The Deluxe Edition bundles the base game plus the "A Boon for Adventurers - New Journey Pack" add-on, which provides additional in‑game items and features.

The available editions are sold in digital format.

The New Journey Pack includes: an Explorer's Camping Kit (camping gear), a music and sound collection (custom sounds), Harpysnare smoke beacons and a harpy-lure item, a Heartfelt Pendant, Ambivalent Rift Incense, a Makeshift Gaol Key, the Art of Metamorphosis character editor, a Wakestone, and 1500 Rift Crystals.
