Some listings describe lanterns as suitable for both indoor and outdoor use; others recommend indoor use only or use in covered/outdoor areas.
Some lanterns are powder-coated or lacquered for outdoor use and may include a drain hole. Listings also note the finish may change with exposure, and at least one advises protecting the lantern from hard freezes.
Many lanterns include a top ring for hanging, and some models have hinged doors for quick and easy candle placement.
Clean with a damp cloth and avoid harsh chemicals. Note that listings mention the finish will naturally evolve with exposure.
Common styles include open-frame designs, distressed or aged-zinc looks, raw galvanized finishes, and combinations that pair wood elements with galvanized metal tops.
Most listings indicate each lantern holds one standard candle; one listing notes a maximum capacity of two candles.
