Foam/sponge baseballs are commonly used outdoors—pools, beaches, backyards—and many mini foam balls are described as suitable for both indoor and outdoor practice. Some mini sizes are also noted as compatible with pitching machines for training.

Water-friendly sets typically use neoprene construction for both bat and ball. Bats often include an ergonomic, non-slip comfort grip to help maintain hold even when wet.

Sponge/foam baseballs commonly have foam-filled cores and use covers or shells made from materials such as EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate), synthetic leather, or PVC. Water-friendly sets often use neoprene, and some balls feature sponge or sponge-and-rubber centers.

Mini foam baseballs are very small (examples listed as about 4 cm or 1.6 inches) and lightweight, which makes them suitable for pitching-machine use and indoor practice. They’re often sold in multi-packs and may include a tote bag for storage.
