What are the ingredient standards for Good & Gather?

Good & Gather products are formulated without artificial flavors, synthetic colors, artificial sweeteners, and high-fructose corn syrup. We based these ingredient standards on industry trends and research with guests who consistently told us that they were looking for products without these ingredients. Some Good & Gather products were specially formulated to meet these standards, while others never contained these ingredients. Products also may meet additional standards, too – like organic, non-GMO, kosher, or gluten free.

What flavors are allowed in Good & Gather products?

When flavors are added to Good & Gather products, only natural flavors as defined by the FDA are used. Natural flavors may come from spices, fruit or fruit juice, vegetable or vegetable juice, plant materials (such as bark, buds, roots, or leaves), edible yeast, meat, seafood, poultry, eggs or dairy, or fermentation products. They are added to foods specifically to provide flavor and not for nutritional value.

What sweeteners are not allowed in Good & Gather products?

Good & Gather products do not contain high-intensity sweeteners commonly referred to “artificial sweeteners” or “low-/no calorie sweeteners,” such as aspartame, acesulfame potassium, saccharin, and sucralose. Good & Gather products also do not contain high-fructose corn syrup.

What colors are allowed in Good & Gather products?

Good & Gather products do not contain synthetic colors. This means that we do not allow the use of any FDA certified synthetic color additives, such as FD&C Red No. 3, FD&C Red No. 40 or FD&C Yellow No.5 in any of our products. Some examples of coloring ingredients in Good & Gather products include: annatto, turmeric, fruit and vegetable extracts, and juices from fruits and vegetables.

What is Good & Gather Plant Based?

Our Good & Gather Plant Based items are made predominantly from plants and plant-derived ingredients, and are alternatives to products traditionally made from animals and animal-derived ingredients. Guests can have confidence when selecting from the Good & Gather Plant Based assortment of products. All of the items are thoughtfully designed without ingredients like meat, poultry, fish, milk, eggs and honey, or any other animal or animal-derived ingredients. Like all Good & Gather products, they pass taste tests and are formulated without artificial flavors and sweeteners, synthetic colors and high fructose corn syrup.

Designed by Target’s internal team of food scientists and recipe developers, Good & Gather Plant Based includes a wide range of products, like meat alternatives and non-dairy beverages, and on-trend flavors. The packaging has been designed to ensure guests find it easy to shop for the Good & Gather Plant Based assortment both in-stores and online.

What is Good & Gather Baby and Good & Gather Toddler?

Our Good & Gather Baby and Good & Gather Toddler and affordable options made especially for little ones. We designed these products with ingredients flavors and textures to fit the needs of little ones as they grow and develop, and to help with food decisions, items are labeled with guidance on age and developmental readiness milestones. Like all Good & Gather products, these products are made with quality ingredients and without artificial flavors, synthetic colors, artificial sweeteners, and high fructose corn syrup, and they are backed by our money-back guarantee. Will Good & Gather be replacing any brands currently offered at Target?

Yes, over time Good & Gather will phase out Simply Balanced and Archer Farms. Most of the Simply Balanced and Archer Farms products are still available under the Good & Gather name. Many of these products will be even better, having undergone rigorous testing to ensure that they taste great. Good & Gather continues to grow and includes over 2,000 products today.
