A: The topper will not become hard in cold temperatures. Also, the topper softens with use/body heat.

A: It can be used on a dorm bed but may be a little short depending on the dorm mattresses dimensions. The dimensions of this topper in twin size are 38" x 75", the dimensions of a twin XL are typically 38" x 80".
