About the Book
A family looking for a fresh start is confronted with absolute evil in the form of a reclusive next-door neighbor.
Book Synopsis
Bryan and Ellie Stockton hope they left behind their demons when they move to their idyllic new home in southern West Virginia. Above all, they want a fresh start for their young son, Derrick, who witnessed the tumultuous first years of their marriage - years that were rife with substance abuse, rage, and resentment. Their bright hope for the future is darkened when a child disappears from their neighborhood. The couple becomes suspicious of a reclusive resident with a degenerative brain disorder. Strange events begin to happen in their house just as Derrick tells them about a new friend who visits him at night. Their son might be acting out from the trauma he endured, or he could be the obsession of something much more sinister.
Review Quotes
Amazon customers reviews:
"Absolutely loved everything about this book.
Finished it within 24 hours of starting it. I can not wait to read more by Nick!"
"Love, love, love Nick Roberts! I read The Exorcist's House first, it was fantastic. I cannot rate his writing style enough. He is a VERY talented author. I just finished Anathema... Wow, wow, wow. I did not struggle at all to picture the whole story and every character in my mind, he described everything so well and didn't over do it. This made for a visceral, immersive reading experience that was just phenomenal. Each time you thought you know how it was going to go, wham... something else horrific smacked you in the face. Just brilliant, brilliant writing that draws you in and holds you hostage until it's over. And even then, you still think about it for days!
Some books take a while to get into but not with Nick... As soon as you start reading, the writing is so good, you're instantly invested and need to read more."
"I found this book impossible to put down. An interesting tapestry of characters with rich storyline that weaves a plot that becomes darker with each turn of the page.
A great read."
