About the Book
Young Aizah cherishes time with her taxi-driving father, but when Baba cannot attend the school's daddy-daughter dance, she plans a special celebration at home.Book Synopsis
My Papi Has a Motorcycle meets Bilal Cooks Daal in this sweet father-daughter story that celebrates hardworking immigrant parents When Aizah rides with her dad on Saturday mornings, she feels like a movie star--Baba in the driver's seat, her in the back. Baba's taxi seems brighter and the world seems bigger when they're together. Baba works long hours, so he can't walk Aizah home from school and they rarely get to eat dinner together, but they still squeeze in family time however they can. So when Baba has to miss her school's daddy-daughter dance, Aizah plans something SUPER-DUPER-EXTRA-SPECIAL to surprise him. Spotlighting a Pakistani American Muslim family, this universal picture book is a proud love letter to working class parents, immigrants, and dads everywhere.About the Author
A. D. Ghani is a writer and elementary school teacher in Illinois. She is a recipient of the prestigious Fulbright grant and a second-place winner in the 2021 Illinois Emerging Writers statewide poetry contest. When not writing, she can be found either learning everything she can about anything she can or sitting in amazement at the fact that someone, somewhere, is reading a bio about her in her debut book. Nadia Alam is a Bangladeshi Canadian illustrator and avid daydreamer. She has illustrated many books, including The Wishing Machine, Awake, Asleep, Many Things at Once, and The House Without Lights. When she's not drawing, you can find her zooming around Toronto with her two lovely kids and dog, Momo.Dimensions (Overall): 10.5 Inches (H) x 9.0 Inches (W)
