Got this bottle as a birthday gift, so I was definitely excited to try it for the first time! Told my friend who bought it for me that I’d wait to drink it with him. After cracking it open and taking my first sip, I’m sorry to admit, he missed out! Definitely a smooth tasting bourbon, great for sipping neat, like I prefer bourbon. Had always heard great things about it, and I definitely was not disappointed! Will definitely add another bottle to my collection.

Close to my favorite Old Fitzgerald and Russell's Reserve! All my 6 favorites, depending what my mood is. Of course easier to buy then the 1st four. The notes of dried fruit and oak were forefront. As I took my first sip I was even more impressed with the subtle Carmel effects and the lingering fruits. The oak was also present but the pepper was just a trace. It's burn was enjoyable but short lived. This was not a problem as it only invited to take another sip.

I have only discovered Basil Hayden over the last eight years but it is the smoothest bourbon I have ever tasted. The red wine casked Basil is even smoother.
