Divine Baptism - by Sarah Drummond (Hardcover)

Book Synopsis

Divine Baptism: The Art of Initiation explores aspects essentially concerned with baptism: among them the figure of John the Baptist, the role of water, baptisteries and fonts, as well as images of stories in the Old and New Testaments that convey aspects of renewal, regeneration and rebirth that are the central idea of the Gospels.

The baptism of Christ in the River Jordan by John the Baptist marks the moment of Christ's divine revelation. For the individual, baptism is the rite of initiation into Christianity. Divine Baptism explores aspects essentially concerned with baptism: among them the figure of John the Baptist, the role of water, baptisteries and fonts, as well as images of stories in the Old and New Testaments that convey aspects of renewal, regeneration and rebirth that are the central idea of the Gospels. The theology and settings have necessarily evolved over time, yet the essential elements of baptism remain unchanged. Divine Baptism is the third in the Divine trilogy by Sarah Drummond, following on from her Divine Conception: The Art of the Annunciation and Divine Love: The Art of the Nativity, both published by Unicorn.
