About the Author

Benjamin Percy is the author of seven novels, the most recent among them The Sky Vault. He is also the author of The Unfamiliar Garden, The Ninth Metal, The Dead Lands, Red Moon, and The Wilding, as well as three books of short stories, Suicide Woods, Refresh, Refresh and The Language of Elk. His craft book--Thrill Me: Essays on Fiction--was published by Graywolf Press in 2016 and is now widely taught in creative writing classrooms. He broke into comics in 2014 and is known for celebrated runs on Wolverine, X-Force, Nightwing, James Bond, Devil's Highway, and more. His fiction and nonfiction have been read on National Public Radio, performed at Symphony Space, and published by Esquire, GQ, Time, Men's Journal, Outside, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Paris Review, McSweeney's, Ploughshares, Glimmer Train, and Tin House. He co-wrote the feature film Summering with director James Ponsoldt. His honors include a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Whiting Writers' Award, two Pushcart Prizes, the Plimpton Prize, a McKnight fellowship, and inclusion in Best American Short Stories and Best American Comics. Another student of the Joso School for Comic-Book Artists, Raul, a brilliant artist himself, initially went "the way of the inker", and after working with Ramon F. Bachs on the Manticore series, he joined him in the Star Wars and Shrek books they did together for Dark Horse, and the Batman 12-cent Adventure for DC Comics. He also worked for Marvel with Manuel Garcia in books like Mystique and Spider-Man: Breakout, with Juan Santacruz on X-Men: Die by the Sword, Giant-Size Hulk, Marvel Adventures: The Avengers, and Marvel Adv. Hulk, among others. Back at DC, he's collaborated with artist Fernando Dagnino on Batman and the Outsiders, Superman, Supergirl, Action Comics, Wonder Woman, or Justice League: Generation Lost. He's worked with Andres Guinaldo's pencils on Justice League Dark, Gotham City Sirens, and Joker's Asylum: The Riddler. Raul and Ramon joined forces again in Marvel Universe Ultimate Spider-Man and Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Back at DC, Raül worked with Alvaro Martínez in books like Detective Comics and Justice League Dark.
