Book Synopsis

A Choctaw detective and her partner investigate the murder of a fellow officer in an Oklahoma ghost town, only to discover that he may have been embroiled in an illicit scheme--from the award-winning author of Blood Relay.

Choctaw Detective Perry Antelope and her partner, Sophia Burns, are looking for some peace after their previous case nearly went sideways. Though they're loath to admit it, their experience left them with more than a few scrapes and scars. But the pair's next case proves to be even more treacherous after undercover narcotics officer Paul Austin turns up dead, sending them down a perilous path toward Doaksville, Oklahoma, a Choctaw Nation ghost town with a mysterious link to the past.

The investigation takes Perry and Sophia on countless twists and turns as they explore possible drug ties, mysterious scuba diving exploits, Oklahoma lore, and even begin to suspect some of Paul's closest friends. Just when they think they've cracked the case, their prime suspect is murdered. Throughout it all, they're haunted by one missing piece: What's so significant about Doaksville?
