Book Synopsis

Celebrate the 60th anniversary of Leo Lionni's Caldecott Honor-winning story with a board book edition about the one-of-a-kind mouse named Frederick, who gathers something unusual for the long winter!

Winter is coming, and all the mice are gathering food...except for Frederick. But when the days grow short and the snow begins to fall, it's Frederick's stories that warm the hearts and spirits of his fellow field mice.

"A splendid achievement."--School Library Journal, starred review

"In Frederick, a mouse who is a poet from the tip of his nose to the end of his tail demonstrates that a seemingly purposeless life is indeed far from that--and that we need not live by bread alone!"--Eric Carle

Frederick

This is a timeless classic about being unique and the benefits of that to yourself & others, even though in the beginning, they might not understand. This was and still is one of my favorite books when I was a child . The colorful and calming illustrations make it even more endearing. 🥰 It also is a Caldecott honor book, which is no surprise to me. I haven’t bought it yet, and I don’t know what happened to mine when I was a kid, but I want to buy a brand new one with a intact cover for my granddaughters. The only thing is it doesn’t come in a hard book or more durable pages . My granddaughters are almost 5 years old and one year-old, with a new baby on the way, although I think this would be fine for my almost 5-year-old granddaughter. I don’t think it will last with the younger ones. I’m considering buying it and keeping it my house for when they come over and I will read it to them then put it away safely. 😊
