A part of the Making Public series--which investigates "the public," or the civil domain where space, knowledge, values and commodities are shared--the volume critiques conventional recordkeeping methods, which often perpetuate resource-intensive and preservationist paradigms, and introduces the concept of "green archiving"--a framework that integrates sustainable technologies, practices and philosophies into the curation, preservation and dissemination of knowledge. It draws on speculative theory, eco-criticism, software studies, feminist studies as well as Indigenous and Global South practices and knowledge to propose new imaginaries for the future of archiving in the face of climate crisis.
