Gunsights - by Elmore Leonard (Paperback)

About the Book

Book Synopsis

Brendan Early and Dana Moon have tracked renegade Apaches together and gunned down scalp hunters to become Arizona legends.

But now they face each other from opposite sides of what newspapers are calling the Rincon Mountain War. Brendan and a gang of mining company gun thugs are dead set on running Dana and "the People of the Mountain" from their land.

Down in the mining town of Sweetmary, LaSalle Mining Company buys itself a private army, putting twenty dollars a week into the pockets of gunmen led by Phil Sundeen, an old Sonora enemy with bullet scars to settle.

To defend the high country, Dana rallies Mimbre Apaches, Mexican farmers, and seasoned Tenth Cavalry veterans ready to answer dynamite with gunfire.

Eastern journalists crowd the saloons to chronicle an epic feud, even as stubborn frontier pride leaves neither partner room to back down. The characters are unforgettable, the plot packed with action and gunfights from beginning to end.

• Historical Western: An old rivalry reaches back six years to an adobe rancho in Sonora, where Moon and Early first defied Sundeen over a captured Apache warchief.
• Action Adventure: Buffalo soldier Bo Catlett draws on twenty-four years of cavalry service to outmaneuver company survey teams, answering dynamite with military cunning.
• Suspense: Kate Moon refuses to surrender her stone ranch house on the high ridges, backing her husband with a lever-action Henry.
• Also by This Author: Raylan, Pronto and Fire in the Hole.
