Something we can sit down and do for about 30 minutes or more, depending on the time of day. Love the ease of world building without needing a paper or pencil. They're accustomed to the blocks for counting so this was really nice

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The blocks are smaller than I thought they would be. I think it would be better if the vowels had their own block per vowel. So a block that had "a" on all sides and so on. They were easy to link together and pull apart.

Reading Rods gave her enough context to create words while building confidence. They're also fun! I would recommend to parents of children who get stressed when sounding things out. It's not the most fun way to practice and I'm guessing you'd have more buy in with a child by letting them just build with blocks and then seeing if the could sound out nonsense words. But a fun educational toy nonetheless.

As a homeschool teacher I am always looking for hands on manipulatives that are educational and also fun. I love that this set has color coded rods differentiating consonants, vowels, digraphs, affixes, vowel teams, and even silent e's. These make a great visual for teaching long and short vowel patterns and strengthening literacy skills. I have bought similar phonic and number blocks and these are by far the best design we have used so far, they are easy to snap together and take apart. Another thing I really like about this set is that it includes a teacher developed activity guide that includes games and ideas to incorporate into lessons. My daughter enjoys using Reading Rods to practice spelling and the color coding helps me break down my explanation on when to use trickier vowel combinations.

The kids were instantly intrigue and started playing right away, they even invented new games like specific word prompts. It was so nice to see them play and enjoy a word game and get off of their devices and video games. The set itself is well made and I can see this lasting even until our toddler is able to play.

I have found these blocks to be extremely useful when it comes to recognizing letters and learning their sounds for my younger kids, as well as putting basic words together for my slightly older kids. Definitely recommend the product.

First thing my kids did was spell their names. One of the blocks has "EIGH" which is a part of their name and they were so happy.
