When he and his sour faced partner, an ugly stinking cat, get hired by two dames in dire need of a mystery solved, they find themselves plunged into the politics and danger of this pre-steampunk world where highly leathered brawn beats against brains every day.

With little time to work--love, lives, and money, most especially money are on short supply, hu'Mar must solve the case and if he can help it, avoid getting killed himself.

This Novel is a cross between the classic Noir style of hard-boiled detective, mixed with high fantasy, in a sword and sorcery sort of way, with the hints of a steampunk era nearly upon them. This is a clean read, but one that still has a comedic and sometimes dark humor.
