Description

Book Synopsis

This volume shows that memory today is postdigitally hybrid, shaped by the interaction of agencies and practices that graduate between those of a more digital and less digital character. It interrogates the digital inflection of what and how we remember, and argues that memory always stretches across people, places, and platforms. The volume stands out by combining theory with empirical case studies on memorials, museums and archives; mnemonic communities and groups, and autobiographies, algorithms and remembering. Bridging digital and traditional Memory Studies by substantiating the key concept of Hybrid Memory the volume reshapes the field and helps us understand how memory today is hybridly co-created with digital technology, media and data.
