About the Book

When Rabbit and Raccoon find themselves upside down, they use a little bravery, and a little help from the reader, to turn right side up again.

Book Synopsis

A hilarious interactive picture book from the author of The Crayon Stub about a rabbit and a raccoon who find themselves in a story turned upside down.

Raccoon's new basketball just arrived. Time to shoot hoops with his friend Rabbit! But when the basketball falls UP instead of DOWN, they have to figure out how to make things right.

To do that, the two friends will need a little creativity and a LOT of help from the reader in this fourth-wall-breaking picture book full of twists, turns, and surprises!

Review Quotes

Praise for I Think We're Upside Down!

"Cleverly interactive . . . An enthusiastic readers' theater performance could truly bring this topsy-turvy, literal page-turner to life . . . Cutler uses a minimalist style, and the graphic novel-esque frames support the textual breaking of the fourth wall as the friends actually move outside the structured frames themselves. Cutler offers up a lighthearted book that could be perfect for beginning readers with big imaginations and a silly sense of humor." --The Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books

"Cutler proves he's an absolute picture-book baller in this playful title . . . Text and art on ensuing pages prompt continual book manipulation to view illustrations right-side up while holding the physical book at varying positions, culminating with a slam dunk of a visual punchline. Cutler relies on a subdued palette with plenty of white space and color-coded speech bubbles, making for an efficient, clever reading experience. Picture-book metafiction for the win!" --Kirkus Reviews
