Basically the same as beef but not!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently had the opportunity to try the Impossible Meat beef, and it was an interesting experience. The product came in a square-shaped package, much like a pre-made hamburger patty you'd find at a fast-food restaurant like Wendy's. Inside, the meat itself is made from processed plants and, while it's designed to mimic ground beef, it has a texture that is much smoother, almost like a paté. For my first time using it, I incorporated the Impossible Meat into a Hamburger Helper tomato basil meal kit. The taste was surprisingly similar to beef, which was a nice surprise, but I did notice it browned up more like ground chicken. There's also a subtle sweetness to the meat. Since I added a generous amount of Italian seasoning to the dish, it was a bit difficult to discern the standalone flavor, but the overall taste of the finished meal was quite good. In conclusion, I'd recommend Impossible Meat if you're looking to reduce your meat consumption a few times a week for ethical or vegetarian reasons. It's a solid alternative that holds up well in a meal like Hamburger Helper.
