She has always loved scary stories, and got her MFA from Simmons University and, eventually, a job working in children's publishing. She hails from Pittsburgh--ground zero for the zombie apocalypse. Campy vibes!

This was a spooky, campy middle grade story. Literally, there are girls camping in the forest - think like a Girl Scouts type group. After Jenna's friend gets abducted by a strange creature straight out of their tent (cue a new fear unlocked!), she can't get over her guilt that she didn't do enough to save her. So she decides to join a new troop and go back into the forest to try and find her. I liked the cryptid part of the story - it was mysterious and creepy thinking about this, well, you don't what IT is, stalking these campers. A big theme in this book was friendship and perseverance. Jenna is one mighty girl!!
