Book Synopsis
Commemorating the illustrator's famed decade of work in Milan, during which she created superlative graphics for Italian companies Pirelli and La Rinascente
The volume celebrates Swiss graphic designer Lora Lamm (1928-2025), one of the most respected illustrators in the field of commercial graphic design in the 1950s and '60s. Trained in Switzerland and active in Milan during the postwar period, her creations still stand out today for their communicative power, pleasant and delicate colors, and light touch. Introduced to La Rinascente in 1954 by her schoolmate and colleague Max Huber, she took over as head of the creative department from 1958 to 1963. During those years, she collaborated with Pirelli, Elisabeth Arden, Niggi, Centrale del Latte di Milano and many other companies. This volume presents a series of Lamm's posters and sketches, as well as a vast assortment of promotional items, such as invitation cards, wrapping paper, tissue paper and packaging, offering a complete overview of her work. It is supplemented by scholarly essays, testimonials and interviews conducted with the designer.
