Twist on a Venerable Bourbon Brand

Having toured the Maker's Mark Distillery in KY, I can provide an informed opinion as to the flavor of this product. MM adjusts the burning of the oak barrel staves to produce this unique bourbon variety that differs from its main brand. Most people don't know that there is a Federal law governing the definition and production of Bourbon (the 1964 Bourbon Act). In order to qualify, among other requirements, the bourbon must be aged in a "first use" American Oak barrel. Maker's Mark differs from most of the other bourbons on the market because wheat is a more predominant ingredient than rye. This produces a softer finish to the taste. I don't always drink 46 but if we have guests, I will likely pour some glasses.
