On the nose, it’s got a warm, inviting smell—vanilla, caramel, a little bit of fruit (like banana and maybe some apricot), plus a hint of oak. You can tell it spent some time in barrels. Taste-wise, it’s smooth and slightly sweet, with those same vanilla and caramel notes coming through. There’s a bit of spice, but nothing too intense. I stumbled on some 1L Mt Gay bottles another liquor store had on close out about a year ago. I have been a fan ever since. Mt Gay Gold is sweet and flavorful. It mixes well but is smooth and flavorful enough to be dranken neat
