Description

Book Synopsis

Of, the indescribable poetry collection from Kai Ihns, is a book that thinks about both relation and grammar and relation as grammar: how orienting oneself through the process of making sense necessarily commits one to certain ways of seeing the world, an idea the book views as both a source of meaning and something to fear. In other words, this is a book about love, finitude, and the nature of its own imbrication in the logics of contemporary America.

About the Author

Kai Ihns recently finished a PhD in English at the University of Chicago, a philosophical aesthetics project focusing on an emergent form of attentional-cognitive prosody, which she calls "aspect choreography," in contemporary experimental poetry and film. She is the author of one previous full-length poetry collection (sundaey (Propeller Books, 2020)), and numerous pamphlets (with The Creative Writing Department, slub press, Earthbound Poetry Series, and Blazing Stadium). She holds an MFA from the Iowa Writers' Workshop. Individual poems have appeared or are forthcoming in Hyperallergic, NO MATERIALISM, Luigi Ten Co, Annulet, Denver Quarterly, mercury firs, Can We Have Our Ball Back? and elsewhere. A former poetry editor at Chicago Review and Fence, she currently works as the Daily Poem curatorial assistant at The Paris Review and teaches creative writing at the University of Chicago.
