Book Synopsis
A spicy small-town romantic comedy filled with heat, humor, and tugged heartstrings.
After years of being in survival mode, being the sole guardian of her little brother, and raking in every last dime to make something of herself, Dylan Hawthorne goes out guns blazing and rage quits her job when a creepy boss propositions her. When she's offered a seasonal bartending gig, Dylan jumps at the opportunity, eager to stay on track and finally open her restaurant, giving her and Jude the life they deserve.
Enter Maverick Cooper.
Since buying The Whiskey Hollow in his early twenties as his plan B, Maverick Cooper has used his devastating charm, good looks, and being the owner of the best (only) bar in town to his advantage. But after years of the women and beer flowing freely, Maverick's maturity has finally taken the driver's seat and landed him in a year long dry-spell, unable to muster an ounce of excitement for any women he comes across.
But when worlds collide and Dylan becomes Maverick's feisty, honest to a fault bartender, he quickly realizes he's out of his depth when their brief misunderstanding in a parking lot leaves him unexpectedly stuttering and falling over himself.
Dylan has never been able to count on anyone but herself. So when life refuses to give her a break, she's forced to decide if she'll break her cardinal rule: Never depend on anyone.
Will Dylan refuse to let her new boss and his wild family lend a helping hand?
Or will she realize that there might be an exception to the rule?
Just one.
Review Quotes
Praise for Headfirst (Canyon Creek #1)
"A small town full of character and found family I want to join!" --Mollie Goins, author of the Boston Blues series
"Headfirst is a delicious blend of heartwarming touches, family dynamics, and sizzling (off-limits) tension. A fun, sexy little romp of a book that I absolutely devoured!" --Amanda Linsmeier, author of A Dance With Death (The Three Bells Trilogy #1)
"This book is more delicious than fair food, and just as impossible to resist! Perfect for fans of Elsie Silver, Headfirst is a spicy small-town romance with an overprotective, tattoo artist single dad and the sassy nanny he simply will not fall for. But just like Wes Cooper with Ivy, you're going to be powerless to stop yourself from falling Headfirst!" --Julie Cook, author of Off Course
"When laid-off teacher Ivy is in need of a new job, her coworker delivers--in more ways than one--in setting her up to care for her brother Wes's little girl, Delilah. Wes, a tattoo shop owner, is locked tighter than Fort Knox, and Ivy needs to maintain boundaries to keep her job. But their attraction is undeniable, and Markley gives the readers just enough steam and humor in each chapter to keep us wanting more, too. The small-town The Nanny we didn't know we needed!" --Jen Michalski, author of All This Can Be True
About the Author
Amelia Markley is a writer and enjoyer of spicy romantic comedy. She's probably reading two to three books at all times and can't seem to stop. So what did she do? Threw another one into the mix--her own.
In her spare time--when not reading--she loves to spend time with her family, coach her kids' soccer team, and bake in the sun like a lizard. You'll also find her at her desk with a Diet Coke between the hours of 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. when she gets most of her writing done. She hopes you take pleasure in what came out of her brain during those times. She lives in California with her husband, their two kids, and two dogs.
