Q: Is it safe to use in vegetable garden?
A: Thank you for your question. Ortho Orthene Fire Ant Killer1 is not registered for use on or around any edible crops. Do not apply this product under the branch spread (root zone) of any edible trees, shrubs or garden plants. We suggest keeping this product 24 inches away from any edible plants. Should Ortho Orthene Fire Ant Killer1 be applied in a garden area, you must wait one year to plant edibles. If this product is used inside the root zone of fruit or nut trees, you must wait 1 year to harvest.

Q: Will this kill all ants or only fire ants?
A: Hello! Thanks for your question. Ortho Orthene Fire Ant Killer1 is labeled for control of fire ants in the home, lawns, and around plants (including flowers, shrubs & trees). It is not registered to control any other ants or other insects.

Q: How long until I start seeing results ? Does it work immediately ?
A: Hello Dee. After making an application with Ortho Orthene Fire Ant Killer1, the entire fire ant colony should die within 3-7 days.

Q: I have used this product on an ant pile recently and white powder substance still is present after 3 days. Is this normal? And can my dog be around it since it had been days?
A: Ortho Orthene Fire Ant Killer1 is designed to release the active ingredients and not dissolve in water. The white substance you see, granules and the remaining carrier, will disappear over a period of several weeks under normal weather and watering conditions. Once the dust has settled on the ground it is ok for dogs and cats, to enter the area.

Q: Hi, I purchased yesterday and used for the first time. I know bottle says to stay away until dust goes away. My son likes to big hunt in the area where I had to use product? What would be a safe amount of time before he can bug hunt there again?
