This is a solid case that looks great, and has one of the highest drop ratings I could find. It fits well, and is easy to install, and covers most of the important access to the phone WHILE leaving access to the new iPhone 16 camera controls on the right side. HOWEVER, the flip up portion that covers the chraging point WILL be the failure point of this case, and I'll be surprised if it lasts more than 4-6 months. Unlike other cases, where this cover hinge point is not part of the overall case structure, when this elements fails on the Case Mate, it is going to affect the overall integrity of the case. So much so, that when it does, I'm most likely going back to an Otter Box....

There is a change on how the two pieces go together. On my 13 pro max it was a top and bottom then side clips on a hinge that snapped together. The 16 pro max it is a two piece that first you put the phone into the inner case shell then you put the inner case shell into the outer shell housing which then when put together it make it solid phone case protector.

Was excited to get this case and was disappointed after trying it. First off , this is the only other case I could find with a holster. In my line of work it is far more convenient for me to holster phone. Have always used otterbox defender series. It’s been a reliable heavy duty phone protection with a sturdy holster. That being said , otterbox dropped the ball on their design for the iPhone 16 max with completely leaving the camera button part of phone exposed. So moving to the pelican shield seemed like a good alternative. Boy was I wrong!! Pelican shield case has rubber edges around sides for grip. But rest of case is as slippery as can be. Very difficult to manipulate handling of phone with one hand. Also the holster is cheap fragile plastic that I predict will snap and break in no time. I cannot run the risk of losing/breaking such an expensive piece of equipment. So I took the case off and it is currently sitting in its packaging on a shelf.
