Prohibition shuttered most of the once-booming Maryland Rye industry, but Pikesville, produced since the 1890's, re-emerged in 1936 and became the lone brand to keep this style of Rye alive. I first had this at the distillery. It was the last whiskey of the tasting flight. Remarkable. I told the gentleman leading the discussion of the tasting that I, as a scotch fan, know other scotch drinkers would love this rye. He agreed. It makes a wonderful Black Manhattan as well. 2 oz of Pikesville Rye, 1 oz of Averan liquor, several dashes of Angostura bitters. Shaken and served in a chilled martini glass. Dress it with a good Luxardo cherry. Give it a go. You can thank me later!

Yes, without any doubt.
It is one of the best I have tasted in rye. Here in Spain, it is increasingly difficult to hunt these wonders, we barely have varieties of whiskey and American bourbon. I drink it neat, without ice. It is wonderful. I highly recommend it.

The Pikesville Rye is truly an amazing pour. My wife loved it! It's quite hard to come by in Houston, but I was able to grab a bottle six hours away from my local stores. On the nose, it offers inviting notes of vanilla, cinnamon, and butter cream. The taste coats the palate with rich baking spices, and the vanilla notes provide a delightful finish. We thoroughly enjoyed this offering, and it has become my go to rye whenever I can find it.

Immediately hooked
My wife bought me this as a Christmas present as I love rye whiskey and this was one she had never heard of. Well I was instantly hooked. Spicy/peppery as a rye should be with a load of extra complexity that the 6 year age will give you. My absolute favourite drop, shame it's a little pricey in UK.

What a delicious sipping treat!
Stopped at my small local liquor store on the way home just now which had 3 rye whiskeys- 2 brands familiar to us- and this Pikesville Rye. As I read the bottle I was immediately impressed with it being aged 6 years, and that it was made by Heaven Hill. This is a mouthful of flavor and finish that rivals all of those other high-priced premium ryes out there on the market, and yet I hadn't heard of it. Well, now I have, and I'm spoiled forever.
