The softness reduces the vibration on your feet & legs which makes it a smoother ride. It's also a lot quieter on the road than hard wheels. The maneuverability is great whether he is going slow or faster. He said it's easier to ride because it's wider for his feet. Definitely a good quality sturdy board.
