Description

Book Synopsis

A gentle way to get more rest and help your child develop healthy sleep habits

Rest Assured is, thankfully, not another sleep training book. This is a book for parents who want to help their babies sleep while staying true to the instinctual drive for parent-child connection, security, and attachment. Yes, it is possible. Author Louise Herbert--a certified expert in sleep science, lactation, and perinatal and infant mental health--offers a neuroscience-backed approach that supports each child's unique needs and biological development to promote safe, healthy, and restful sleep. Inside, you'll find practical guidance on trusting yourself and your child to find the middle ground between "cry it out" and "wait it out."

Learn about the biology of healthy, safe, biologically normal infant sleep, and get a how-to guide for supporting natural, healthy sleep in a way that results in easier, more restful nights for the whole family. If you're in need of a way to help your baby sleep well, Rest Assured will ease your stress and equip you to navigate this pivotal parenting phase.

  • Get practical guidance on infant sleep that aligns with our human drive for connection and secure, thriving attachments
  • Learn about the latest sleep science, what's normal as babies grow, and what they need to start consolidating sleep
  • Support your child's emotional resilience, regulation, and cognitive development

If you're struggling with your infant's or toddler's sleep patterns, this book gives you a nurture-based alternative to "cry it out" sleep training techniques.

From the Back Cover

Grounded in science and shaped by storytelling, Rest Assured offers a biologically respectful approach to baby sleep, with connection and attachment at its core

"Louise Herbert speaks up for babies and right to the heart of mothers. Her gentle affirming words will be a gift to parents everywhere."
--JESSICA URLICHS, Sunday Times bestselling author of Beautiful Chaos

"In a world that rushes babies toward independence, this book slows us down and brings us back to what is most human--our capacity to respond, to hold, to stay near. Louise reminds us that infant sleep is not a problem to be solved, but a relationship to be protected."
--DR. DEBORAH MACNAMARA, bestselling author and clinical counselor

"You will only ever need one book on baby sleep and it's this one."
--RACHEL SAMSON, M.Psych, author of Beyond Difficult

MUST READ FOR NEW MAMAS!!!

I truly wish every single mother would read this. It is so beautiful, reassuring, and affirming of caring for, loving, responding to, and nurturing your baby. This book brings such incredible wisdom and truth for moms to trust their instincts of responding to their baby and keeping them close to you, rather than following the lies that tell you babies need to be independent and “cry it out.” It made me tear up so many times while reading, knowing that I don’t have to feel bad about following my nurturing instincts and I don’t have to follow the culture around me and sleep train. Thank you thank you thank you for this book. It brought so much relief to my mama heart. Truly a MUST read and is so valuable.
