In 1950, nine wine producers from the agriculturally rich Emilia-Romagna region, home to many of Italy's famed indigenous alimentary products, united to form the Cantine Cooperative Riunite. The Cooperative's goal was to not only reflect the outstanding wine historically produced in agricultural Emilia but to join forces in dynamic synergy which would transform small village wineries and individual farmers into a highly respected world-class concern that would never forget its roots and core values. With the 1967 introduction of Riunite Lambrusco in the U.S., Riunite quickly became an American phenomenon, introducing millions of consumers to their first taste of wine and igniting the country's love affair with Italian wine.

Palatable red wine
I read some reviews that criticized this wine for it's low alcohol content while praising it's smooth and nice taste. It's harder for non-alcoholics to find wines lower in alcohol and healthier as there are much more higher alcohol wines with bitter tastes as is the norm. Hardly a valid reason to criticize this beautiful wine which few are moderate like this. The only others are Livingston rose, oak leaf red blend etc. These moderate wines pair with everything while having just enough alcohol to have a nice warm relaxing effect and a nice taste unlike most wines, along with the antioxidants of red wine. I honestly cannot understand how someone can think any wine stronger than 10% alcohol (8-9 preferable) palatable when they are almost all bitter and nasty with equivalent aftertaste. I guess you have to be an alcoholic to like consider the taste of poisonous bitterness delicious.

Simply refreshing
I been drinking Riunite for years......it's great with food, partying with friends and family, or just relaxing. I will be buying it for the Holidays to go with my Gumbo..
