Samsung 2TB 990 PRO PCIe 4.0 NVMe Solid State Drive MZ-V9P2T0B/AM

I recently upgraded my setup with the Samsung 990 PRO PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD, and the performance leap has been nothing short of phenomenal. From the moment I cloned my OS and started heavy workloads, the read and write speeds blew me away. Hitting close to the advertised 7,450 MB/s read and 6,900 MB/s write speeds in daily benchmarks is incredible. Boot times are essentially instantaneous, file transfers of 50GB+ take just seconds, and game load times have practically disappeared. It completely saturates the PCIe 4.0 interface in the best possible way. One of my initial concerns with drives pushing this level of performance was overheating, but the thermal management on the 990 PRO is remarkably well engineered. Thanks to the nickel-coated controller and Samsung's Dynamic Thermal Guard algorithm, temperatures stay well within safe limits even during sustained read/write tasks. I haven't experienced any thermal throttling whatsoever, which gives me complete peace of mind during extended gaming sessions and heavy data rendering. Finally, the Samsung Magician software brings the entire experience together. It's easily the cleanest, most intuitive SSD management interface I’ve ever used. Monitoring drive health, real-time temperatures, and total bytes written is straightforward. Updating firmware takes literally one click, and features like performance optimization (Full Performance Mode) and diagnostic scans make drive maintenance effortless. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Fast ssd storage. I have 20tb of Samsung ssd nvme storage in my new pc (5 drives). Haven't had a problem with it. It transfers reads and writes fast with no issues. I bought it so it would not bottleneck my new CPU hardware. For my OS drive I bought the 990 pro and for my secondary drives I bought the 990 evo's. I haven't done an exact test for read write speeds but I would say they are as advertised. Also prices at the time for these drives were good. Mainly bought the drives for video editing, but I also record music and do some gaming. Works great.

I put this 2 TB Samsung 990 PRO into a USB4 / Thunderbolt external enclosure, and the performance is incredible. Throughput: It instantly maxes out the speed limits of my external enclosure. Large file transfers like 4K video footage and huge photo libraries copy over in seconds. Latency: Access times are virtually non-existent. Launching applications and editing projects directly off the drive feels just as fast as using an internal drive. Endurance: With a 1,200 TBW rating and 5-year warranty, I have zero worries about write degradation even with frequent heavy file swaps. If you want a portable drive that never thermal throttles or slows you down, this SSD paired with a good casing is the ultimate setup. Highly recommended!

There is no doubt that Samsungs 990 is the best quality NVME SSD in existence. Don't waste your money elsewhere it would be a huge mistake....

I bought the 990 PRO 4tb NVMe card almost a year ago, and since then it has been an excellent storage card. I use it for my gaming laptop for extra storage because a lot of popular games are over 100GB. It doesn't take longer to download my games to this card compared to the ssd that came with my laptop and it doesn't make my computer hot either. I have not had any crashes or glitches with my ssd either. It was most definitely a great decision to buy.

It's reputation as the standard is still holding up. After about two years of consistent use it's starting to slow down, but that's my only issue. It's still fast, all things considered, and I've never had it stop functioning on me.

Easy to setup, fast and reliable. I have had my 990 pro for 3 years now and I have zero complaints about it.

I bought this for my PS5 and the speeds are absolutely ridiculous when transferring from the internal SSD to this SSD. Games transfer in less than 5 minutes for normal games, but at least call of duty does take a full day anymore either lol

This went in my unraid server for a cache volume and boy does my transcoding rip now. Love the Samsung products.

My 990 Pro 2 TB NVMe is fast and solid. My only regret is not splurging for the 8 TB before storage prices became outrageously expensive.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Ive had both a 4tb and 2tb 990 pros for 2 years now, prior to that, had 2 1tb 970 evo plus drives. All drives have been great and maintained their advertised speeds through countless os reinstalls, use in other systems, and reinstall of everything i use. Maintain speeds, even past 80% capacity. Using performance mode in the samsung magician utility, thermals stay consistent and are never bothersome.

1st the SSD, is amazing, it does everything it says. I trust Samsung so I always choose a Samsung product over any other product because of the quality. These types of hardware do not fail, there is virtually no degradation. So save money and save big–preowned is the way to go, 100%. You won't be disappointed!
