Book Synopsis

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

Suttree is Cormac McCarthy's 1979 semi-autobiographical novel set in 1950s Knoxville, Tennessee.

From the bestselling author of The Passenger and the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel The Road, here is the story of Cornelius Suttree, a man from a privileged background who rejects his family, wife, and son to live as a fisherman on a dilapidated houseboat along the Tennessee River near Knoxville.

Remaining credible to the reader while retaining his raw and uncompromising voice, McCarthy gives us an epic that is tender and fierce, somber and sometimes comic--eloquent testimony to the unregenerate human spirit.
