The Cheerful Giver - by Dave Furman (Paperback)

About the Book

In The Cheerful Giver, Dave Furman offers biblical encouragement and pastoral wisdom for Christians to walk in obedience in their giving and chart a path toward joy in their generosity.

Book Synopsis

Money promises happiness but often leaves us anxious, divided, and discontent. In The Cheerful Giver: How God's Love Fuels Our Generosity, pastor and church planter Dave Furman shows how God's lavish grace can transform our relationship with money from fear and guilt to freedom and joy. Drawing on Scripture, pastoral wisdom, and vivid stories--from leaky air mattresses and surprise checks in a seminary mailbox to radical generosity in Dubai and the Arabian Peninsula--Furman helps readers see money as provision, witness, benevolence, enjoyment, stewardship, partnership, and a means of spiritual growth, all flowing from the God who "richly provides us with all things to enjoy."

With clarity and warmth, Furman exposes the hidden idols beneath our desire for financial security, comfort, and control, and invites us into a "greater treasure hunt" where generosity becomes a privilege rather than a pressure. Each chapter unpacks biblical teaching, offers down-to-earth illustrations, and concludes with practical action steps and discussion questions--making this an ideal resource for small groups, stewardship teams, or whole churches longing to cultivate cheerful givers. Whether you are wealthy, struggling, or somewhere in between, The Cheerful Giver will help you enjoy God's good gifts, loosen your grip on money, and discover why we really are more blessed to give than to receive.
