Book Synopsis
"It is true that I have sent six bullets through the head of my best friend, and yet I hope to shew by this statement that I am not his murderer." The year is 1933, and Edward Derby's best friend, Daniel Upton, visits him in Arkham Sanitorium and shoots him dead to the horror of the guards. It's an open and shut case - or is it? What happened to this lifelong friendship for it to end this way? Who exactly was Edward Derby at the end of his life? And, most importantly, will his murder be enough to stop him? From award-winning writer Simon Birks (Antarctica, Sinners, Gone, The Shadow Over Innsmouth) with artist Willi Roberts (Antarctica, The Dark, Clodagh, The Blood Below, Remothered) featuring letters by Rob Jones (Image, Humanoids, Heavy Metal, and many more) comes a startling tale based on H.P. Lovecraft's terrifying story. Collects issues #1-5Review Quotes
"A slow sense of horror creeps in throughout the comic with little moments of terrifying imagery keeping us readers on our toes and delightfully ill-at-ease."-- "The Newest Rant"
"Beautifully crafted, delightfully menacing, and peppered with moments of sheer horror, The Thing on the Doorstep is a wonderful Lovecraftian tale which sinks it's teeth in early and doesn't let go."-- "Super Serious Comics"
"It has Netflix written all over it and it's great to see such strong Scottish talent working at a level comparable with Tynion or Bunn."-- "Big Glasgow Comic Page"
About the Author
Simon Birks is an award-winning writer of comics, novels and films based in Linlithgow, Scotland. In 2015, he co-founded Blue Fox Comics with Marielle Bouleau and together they have successfully funded over 50 comic book Kickstarter campaigns. Also, Michael Palin once called a film he co-wrote 'very silly', and that's good enough for him. Willi Roberts is a comic book artist based in Mar Del Plata, Argentina, who started working in comics as a penciler, inker, colourist and graphic designer in 2010, drawing for publishers in the USA, Australia, Italy and the UK. His titles include The Dark, Clodagh, The Blood Below and indie-game tie-in comic Remothered.Dimensions (Overall): 10.19 Inches (H) x 6.63 Inches (W)
