About the Author

Wayne Barlowe is a renowned illustrator, concept artist, and author based in New Jersey, USA. Active since the 1970s, he has painted over 300 sci-fi and fantasy covers for authors including Isaac Asimov, Frank Herbert, and Octavia E. Butler, as well as illustrating many of his own books of sci-fi, fantasy, horror, and paleo art. Inspired by biology, classical art, and occult history, his memorable monster designs appear in the Avatar, Pacific Rim, Hellboy, The Hobbit, and Harry Potter films. His Hell-inspired work is his life's biggest passion project, spanning a vast body of paintings, sketches, art books, and novels.
