Book Synopsis

Using their signature spoof of functionalism, the Haussmanns' furniture designs critically yet playfully subverted contemporary modernist discourse

In 1978, architect couple Trix and Robert Haussmann created their first "Didactic Pieces" (Lehrstücke), pushing functional furniture to absurdly modernist conclusions. Here, Trix Haussmann herself retraces the genesis of their 12 creations in 12 chapters, accompanied by sketches and reference images.
