Book Synopsis

Stephen Fry turns to the Trojan War in the gripping third volume of his bestselling Greek Myths series, bringing one of the ancient world's greatest stories to life with wit, drama, and unforgettable characters.

The Trojan War has echoed through literature and art for thousands of years: a ten-year siege born of desire, rivalry, ambition, and divine interference.

In Troy, Stephen Fry follows the conflict from its origins through the battles, betrayals, and acts of courage that made Achilles, Hector, Helen, Odysseus, and their fellow warriors legendary. With his characteristic humor, insight, and gift for storytelling, Fry turns an immense cast and complex web of alliances into an absorbing human drama.

Illustrated throughout with classical art inspired by the myths, Troy reveals the passions behind the epic--love and jealousy, loyalty and revenge, glory and grief--and shows why this ancient story continues to resonate.

• THE TROJAN WAR, FROM BEGINNING TO END: Follow the legendary conflict from the events that set a thousand ships sailing to the battles, rivalries, stratagems, and losses that made Troy one of the foundational stories of Western literature.
• THE THIRD BOOK IN STEPHEN FRY'S GREEK MYTHS SERIES: Following Mythos and Heroes, Troy continues Fry's internationally bestselling journey through Greek mythology before the saga concludes with Odyssey.
• AN EPIC BUILT ON HUMAN PASSIONS: Beneath the gods and battlefield spectacle are enduring stories of ambition, jealousy, loyalty, revenge, love, and loss--giving the ancient conflict an emotional immediacy for modern readers.
• CLASSICAL ART IN A COLLECTIBLE EDITION: Full-color artwork inspired by the myths pairs with a striking contemporary package, making this a handsome addition to a mythology, classics, or art-lover's library.
• FOR READERS DRAWN TO ANCIENT GREECE: A strong choice for Stephen Fry fans, mythology and history buffs, classics readers, and anyone captivated by Odysseus and the world surrounding Christopher Nolan's blockbuster The Odyssey.
