Carson’s optical head- and desk-magnifiers commonly provide low powers around 2×–3× (with optional spot or flip-down lenses for higher detail). Separate Carson digital microscopes are specified with much higher magnification — model specs list magnifications in ranges such as ~75× up to 300× depending on the model.
Most Carson head-worn magnifiers are hands-free with adjustable headbands. Lighting varies by model: many include built-in or removable LED lamps that are powered by AAA batteries (some models require no battery for the lens-only configuration). Several models use multiple LEDs for brighter, focused illumination.
Carson commonly uses aspheric main lenses to provide a wider, clearer viewing field. Many models offer additional spot or flip-down lenses (examples in specs include 3×, 3.5× and 5× spot lenses) that increase magnification when needed; some combos pair a 2× main lens with a 3× flip-down lens for higher power.
Carson desk magnifiers use a mix of power options depending on the model: battery power (AA or AAA), external power via a power cord or USB (including USB‑C wall adapters in some models), and some units accept a DC adapter for optional external power.
Multi-lens head visors provide different powers by adding or flipping additional acrylic lenses over the main lens. Manufacturers specify discrete lens combinations (for example, choices like 2×, 3×, 5× or combinations that pair a 2× main lens with a flip-down 3× lens to reach higher effective powers). These are fixed lens combinations rather than continuously variable magnification.
