Dewy bronzers are primarily designed for the face—cheeks, cheekbones, forehead, and the bridge of the nose. Many liquid drop formulas can also be used on the body or mixed into face and body moisturizers.

Many dewy bronzers are presented as suitable for a wide range of skin types, including very dry, dry, combination, oily, acne-prone, sensitive, normal, and mature skin.

Formulas often include nourishing butters and oils (for example Murumuru, Cupuaçu, Tucuma, sunflower seed oil), vitamin E, illuminating minerals, and sometimes marula or raspberry seed oils or a proprietary butter blend.
