Each match has eight players: seven Survivors (ordinary citizens) and one Raider who hunts the Survivors and evolves during the game.

The Breakers is an asymmetrical online action game played via online multiplayer matches, with one Raider facing multiple Survivors.

The game uses a virtual currency called TP Tokens. Token pack examples include 5,400 and 2,250 tokens, and TP Tokens are spent on costumes and other in-game items. (The base game is required to use these tokens.)

Players can follow progression paths to unlock skills, character skins, and items, allowing them to customize their playstyle whether they play as a Raider or a Survivor.

The Special Edition includes the full game plus cosmetic items: a Souvenir Jacket, Skinny Jeans, Slip-On Shoes, a Casual Watch, a victory pose, and a vehicle skin.

The game is rated T (Teen) by the ESRB. Content descriptors list mild language, cartoon violence, and mild suggestive themes; interactive elements note player interaction and in-game purchases.
