Most decorative garden globes are made from glass or handblown glass. The self-watering bulb uses a terracotta/ceramic spike as the watering stake.

Decorative gazing globes commonly measure 10" in diameter (overall heights about 11.5"–11.75"). The watering globe measures about 5" diameter with a 9.5" overall height.

The self-watering globe holds about 15 ounces of water, which can keep plants hydrated for several days depending on plant size and conditions.

The watering globe assembles in two pieces: the glass bulb and the terracotta/ceramic spike. Twist the spike onto the bulb, press the stake into the potting soil, then fill the sphere through its wide (about 1") top opening.

Some mosaic gazing globes include internal LED lighting powered by a solar panel on top. The setup uses a 10-LED string backed by a rechargeable AA battery; the solar panel requires about 6–8 hours of direct sunlight to fully charge.

Clean mirrored and handblown glass globes with mild soap and water. To preserve them, store globes indoors before freezing temperatures or during harsh weather.

Decorative gazing globes are placed in flower beds, patios, walkways, lawns, or on stands to add color and reflection. Mosaic watering globes and watering bulbs are used in planters, hanging baskets, windowsills, and patio containers to provide slow hydration.
