hdmi module

Typical configurations shown are 1 input to 2 outputs (1x2) and 2 inputs to 1 output (2x1) for bidirectional units; listings often label these as 1x2 / 2x1 or HDMI x1 / HDMI x2.

Supported ranges vary by unit and include standard definition up to 8K. Commonly listed formats are 480p/720p/1080p, 4K at 24/30/50/60/120 Hz, and in higher-end units 8K up to 60 Hz.

Many modules pass uncompressed LPCM and common compressed formats such as DTS and Dolby Digital, and some list higher-quality formats like DTS‑HD and Dolby TrueHD. A few extenders also mention multichannel surround (up to 7.1) support.

Many splitters and switches include EDID management with modes such as Auto, Copy and Downscaler. They may offer auto downscale or scaler modes so one output can be downscaled to match a lower-resolution display in mixed‑resolution setups.

Extender listings show ranges commonly up to 164 ft (50 m) over CAT5e/CAT6 and up to 230 ft (70 m) over CAT6a/CAT7 for a 1080p@60Hz signal.
