Lightweight awnings commonly use metal frames—most often aluminum or fiberglass—paired with canopy or panel materials such as polyester fabric, polycarbonate (PC) sheets, or recycled-plastic panels. Some designs also incorporate ABS brackets in the mounting structure.

The set includes both fixed awnings and manually operated retractable awnings; many retractable models use a hand crank for opening and closing.

Awnings commonly advertise UV protection (often rated UV50+/UPF50+), water- or waterproof coatings, and in some cases additional resistance to wind or rust depending on materials and construction.

Most options require adult assembly and include mounting hardware or instructions. Several specifically note installation on cement, brick, or wood walls and include expansion bolts or pre-drilled holes for DIY mounting.

Examples show angle adjustability roughly from 40° up to 100°, and some vehicle/awning combinations list adjustable heights (for example, about 45 1/4" to 84 5/8").
