A liquid nano screen protector is a transparent nanotechnology coating that bonds to a device's glass at a microscopic level. It forms an invisible protective layer (often described as a honeycomb structure) that strengthens the surface and helps resist water, abrasions and everyday scratches.
Product descriptions claim the coatings increase surface hardness (often listed as 9H) and help reduce everyday scratches and some breakage from drops. They do not, however, make a screen completely shatter-proof or fully scratch-proof.
Formulations are described as primarily based on silica dioxide (SiO2)—nanoparticles of glass—suspended in a transparent liquid carrier.
Common cautions include: do not apply to cracked or broken screens; the coating will not repair existing scratches or damage; and some protection plans may require specific coverage or activation steps to be eligible.
Besides scratch resistance, listings commonly advertise antimicrobial properties, reduced grease and smudges, and added protection against water and general abrasions.
